Honest disqualification
We are not right for everyone.
Here is how to tell in five minutes.
Most vendors in our category will tell you that any acquirer is a fit. That is how both sides end up in a relationship that wastes six months. We turn down mandates every month, and it is usually for one of the reasons below.
We are the wrong choice if
- You are not yet funded to close. Origination produces live owner conversations quickly, and owners disengage fast when a buyer cannot move.
- Your buy box is undefined. “Anything profitable” cannot be turned into a target list, and a vague mandate produces vague calls.
- You want listed deals. If you want to see what is already on the market, a broker relationship costs you nothing up front. We do the opposite job.
- Nobody on your side can take introductions. Qualified owner calls are worthless if they sit in an inbox for two weeks.
- You want to test us for four weeks. The first month is build; the numbers show from month two. Two months is the honest minimum.
- You need us to work both sides of your vertical. We take one partner at a time, so if we already have a conflicting mandate the answer is simply no.
We are a strong fit if
- You have capital committed and a mandate you can actually close on.
- You can describe your buy box in one sentence — sector, geography, size band.
- You want proprietary conversations with owners who are not in market rather than auctions.
- Someone on your team owns the relationship after we make the introduction.
- You are willing to be judged on delivered numbers, and to judge us the same way.
- Exclusivity matters to you — you would rather your story was told to owners by someone who represents only you.
Why we publish this
Disqualification is cheaper than disappointment
A retained mandate that should never have started costs both sides more than the retainer. It costs you a quarter of your acquisition timeline and it costs us a partner slot in a vertical we could have served properly. Saying so on our own website is not modesty, it is arithmetic.
It also means that when we do say we can help, that statement carries weight. We are not able to promise a meaningful qualified-call floor while simultaneously accepting every mandate that comes through the door.
Next step
Tell us the mandate. We will tell you honestly.
Five minutes on the phone is usually enough for both of us to know. If we are not right for you, we will say so on that call, and where we can we will point you somewhere better.
